Let It Go; A Frozen Twisted Tale

The twisted tale book series really caught my eyes. They are based on Disney tales but with a twist on the original plot which I think is an interesting idea. However, I need to remind you that not all twist that was done on those tales are that uhm how to say.....fit? They might make you like "what the....."

Okay let me begin for the first twist tale book series; Let it go, A Frozen Twisted Tale. Price: RM34.90 in Popular.

The prime twist of the book is Anna and Elsa don't know each other through out their life before they met each other again after a while. Anna was adopted by a family (new characters added) who owns a bakery at another village under Arendelle. They don't have memory of each other. Elsa didn't remember her power as well.

After Elsa accidentally freeze the summer which is now was triggered by another character who is not Anna unlike the movie, Elsa seek out to find her sister which she accidentally remember through something her parents left for her. She went to the Grand Pabbie to seek out the truth but instead she found out a devastating information about her relationship with Anna.

Anna on the other hand was a baker. She heard what happened to Arendelle and suddenly felt like she needed to help and went out to find out the truth only to find that she remember parts of the castle, magically. She then had an adventurous journey to help Elsa and along the way she met Olaf in the castle and Prince Hans who was trying to create a negative speculations about Elsa to Anna.

The ending is pretty much the same to the movie.

However (spoiler alert),

The book got many disappointing twists which I think spoiled the original characters' personalities and lessen the dramatic effects of some events in the story. I am very aware that this is a twisted tale and I shouldn't expect it to be just like the movie but I am expecting that the plot wouldn't affect the original characters' personalities that much which....they did.

Upon flipping through few early chapters of the book, I was disappointed on the twist they make upon Prince Hans and Elsa. In the movie, Anna was supposed to blindly fall in love with Price Hans and trigger Elsa to leash out her power but in this book, Elsa was the one who fell in love with him instead.

I.can't.take.it.

I mean in the movie, Elsa is a very wise princess. She didn't trust Prince Hans who wanted to get married to her sister after meeting her twice? She was very elegant and shine out a queen personality. I am so furious at how Elsa's character is now someone who is vulnerable in love and top of that in love with Prince Hans?! She ain't supposed to portray that character! Ugh.

But still, she can sense Prince Hans' intention quick after that. Although it's pretty late actually lol.

And they got twist to Olaf's creation as well. When Elsa found out that her parents were lost in the sea, she was devastated and couldn't control her power and she accidentally created Olaf.....in her room. I am so disappointed at this point. The plot is now that Elsa hid Olaf in her room inside the big castle for nearly three years before she got out from the castle.

HOW CAN SHE HID OLAF IN HER ROOM FOR THAT AMOUNT OF TIME? OLAF IS SUPPOSED TO GO OUT THERE AND CHARM EVERYONE WITH HIS CUTENESS??

I get the picture that Olaf is now beside Elsa helping her get through her devastated point of life before her coronation day but that ain't the way sister!

Unfortunately (read: fortunately) they didn't make too much twist on Kristoff. He still posses the same character as in the movie except the way he met Anna isn't that dramatic as in the movie but uhm okay I can accept it.

What I like about this book is that it still delivers the same message. About love, family and friendship. I like it how they make their journey to thaw the ice adventurous for both of them unlike the movie which might seems like only Anna did an adventurous journey to help unfreeze the summer. I like it that they still include remarkable scenes in the movie into the book as well.

What can I say about this book is that the twists to the plot are intriguing but the twists to the characters are disappointing. Some might enjoy it that Elsa was portrayed as someone who can actually fall in love and have vulnerable sides like most human beings but I can't LOL.

My rate would be 5/10.
